Update Praxis

These steps apply to Desktop/Cowork. For CLI, use the versioned extraction, local registration and removal instructions in CLI setup.

1. From each product’s GitHub Releases page, download the new praxis-runtime.mcpb and any role ZIPs that changed (products version independently — choose the release you need on each product’s Releases list).
2. Before replacing installed packages, check each chosen release’s release-meta.json for compatibility with the Runtime and role plugins you will keep installed together.
3. In Settings → Extensions, update/replace Praxis Runtime with the new MCPB (Install extension / replace, then enable).
4. Re-open Praxis Runtime → Settings. Confirm Jira fields are still present. Re-enter the token if the field is empty. Praxis does not promise that every Claude Desktop update preserves user_config; if a field is blank, configure it again.
5. Update each installed role ZIP the same way you first uploaded it.
6. Quit and restart Claude Desktop.
7. Open a new Cowork session (do not continue a session that started on the old Runtime).
8. Run doctor/status. Check that the Runtime version matches the release you installed.
9. Confirm Jira read access with a status tool (praxis_jira_smoke / role status). Do not paste tokens.

Role plugins must stay compatible with that Runtime. Mixing a newer role ZIP with an older Runtime (or the reverse) without checking release-meta.json is a frequent cause of missing tools.

If a Quality Apply Preview was generated on the previous Runtime, generate a new preview after the update. Do not reuse the old fingerprint.

Do not leave multiple Praxis Runtime copies enabled.
